Counseling Adult Survivors of Childhood Abuse (2 days)
What does the workshop entail?
Participants will be presented with a clear therapeutic framework for working with adult survivors of childhood abuse - physical, emotional or sexual. This framework is based on the principles of Transactional Analysis.
Participants will learn to:
- Identify the ways in which the different ego states of the client were damaged by experience(s) of abuse.
- Involve the client in the healing process.
- Empower their clients to improve their intra- and interpersonal functioning.
- Counsel adult survivors of childhood abuse how to have more skill and confidence.
Clients who have worked through this process with Yvonne almost always show remarkably enhanced functioning and coping skills.
Who can benefit from this workshop?
Professional helpers such as Psychologists, Social Workers and Pastoral Counsellors.
Prerequisites:
A good basic knowledge of Transactional Analysis is a prerequisite. The book "Joy Comes in the Morning" is prescribed for the workshop.
Participants must be proficient in other counselling skills
Social Workers, AFM and Dutch Reformed ministers will earn CPD points upon attendance of this workshop.
