Healing for Trauma - In the South African Context
Healing for trauma helps trauma victims and their families deal with the consequences of potentially devastating events. In South Africa – with its high incidence of violent crime, divorce and other forms of trauma – most people are emotionally wounded at some stage or other. If these wounds are not treated, they can have debilitating consequences, just as physical wounds do.
The book discusses specific situations such as bank robbery, hijacking, suicide of a loved one, rape, multiple trauma and farm killings. It also provides general guidelines that will benefit every person who has lived through a traumatic incident. “Healing for Trauma” is a guide for those who would like to help others to make a complete recovery after a traumatic incident, and to continue their life's journey joyfully.
“Healing for Trauma” was written at the request of the publishers.

Book Review
I attended Louis Hough's TIR course this week. He suggested that i write to you after I shared with the course and with Louis, how much I had enjoyed the book "Healing for Trauma in the South African Context" that you wrote.
When I first joined the Trauma Unit at Honeydew, I was accepted as a counsellor on nothing more than my undergraduate degree in Psychology and I felt deeply inadequate at my inability to work with traumatized people. I bought a copy of your book and have used it (almost as my trauma bible) ever since. Eventually I became the trainer for all the new trauma counsellors at Honeydew and wrote a training manual for new counsellors, in order that they would not experience the same anxiety that I had experienced.
I was overwhelmed to discover that so much of what I have read in your book and practiced over the years, was contained in the TIR course. It brought me to tears to understand how much your book has led and guided me all these years, and how it has helped me to deal with people in their various painful experiences with compassion, non-judgement and understanding.
It has helped so many people to understand what happens in the brain and the body when they experience Trauma.
I just want to thank you sincerely, from the bottom of my heart for what your ministry has meant to me. You have unknowingly blessed me and enriched my life, and I trust God that in turn it has enriched others as well.
In Christ,
DK
