Trauma Training - An Overview:
In order to address the effects of a traumatic incident, one needs to understand the physiological and psychological processes an individual goes through in the aftermath of such an experience. Traumatic incidents are often experienced by an individual or by a group of people who happened to have been together at the time of the incident. Any person who regularly deals with trauma work, will from time to time be confronted with both types of situations.
The focus of the two trauma workshops is to create a solid understanding of the process of trauma, and to impart the necessary skills to deal with traumatized individuals (the TIR workshop) as well as traumatized groups (Group Debriefing). During a Group Debriefing session it may become apparent that a particular individual needs individual trauma intervention and a TIR will be necessary.

Group Debriefing Workshop (2 Days)
What does Group debriefing entail?
When people in a restaurant, at a workplace, on holiday or as family together are attacked or in some other way exposed to a traumatic incident as a group together, group dynamics play a role in the experience. It is therefore necessary to see them together. The techniques learners will be taught in this workshop enable the facilitator to handle such a group. This intervention may or may not be sufficient to deal with the effect of the experience on each of the victims. During the two-day workshop, the facilitator will also be taught to identify those individuals in the group who may need individual attention. These individuals can be helped with TIR.
Who can benefit?
- Any individual who wants to work with traumatized groups.
- Any professional who is interested in acquiring extra skills to work with traumatized groups, or who would like to expand their basic knowledge of trauma.
No previous training is required to attend this workshop.
Social Workers, AFM and Dutch Reformed ministers will earn CPD points upon attendance of this workshop.
